Japanese Traditional Pattern

Japanese Traditional Pattern

Japanese Kimono patterns are related to Japanese tradition.  This Japanese pattern I am introducing is often used for Japanese Kimono. It is called HANABISHI KIKKOU. Direct translation is Flower Hexagon Turtle shell.  We use this kind of pattern as Japanese family crest. This pattern was used for high class noble family.

This hexagon pattern was one of the oldest pattern and used worldwide and arrived in Japan from continent.

Turtle is symbolic of long life. We Japanese say the cranes live for a thousand year and turtles live for ten thousand. So we often use turtle as longevity symbol.
